Did You See the Sign That Greeted Obama in Iowa on Saturday?
September 02, 2012
"SUX."
President Barack Obama was greeted with a less-than-friendly welcome sign at the airport in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday that read: "Obama Welcome to SUX -- and We Did Build This."
The words "welcome to" were written in much smaller lettering, however, implying a different sort of message. "SUX" is also the code for Sioux Gateway Airport where Obama landed.
"We did build this" is of course a riff on Obama's "you didn't build that" comment to business owners that Republicans have seized on.
ABC News reported the hand-painted sign was draped across the top of an airplane hangar near where Air Force One touched down. Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told ABC the banner could not be seen from the presidential motorcade.
