Likely voters say Obama doesn't deserve a second term [The Hill, 9/4]: "Fifty-two percent of likely voters say the nation is in 'worse condition' now than in September 2008, while 54 percent say Obama does not deserve reelection based solely on his job performance... Forty percent of voters said Obama deserves reelection."

Half the country favors repealing Obamacare [Rasmussen, 9/4]: Fifty percent of likely voters want Obamacare repealed while 41 percent say they want it to stay put. "Enthusiasm remains on the side of repeal supporters, with 43% of voters who Strongly Favor it, compared to 33% who are Strongly Opposed."

Social media not so important in shaping voters' opinions [Pew, 9/4]: "36% of social networking site (SNS) users say the sites are 'very important' or 'somewhat important' to them in keeping up with political news. 26% of SNS users say the sites are 'very important' or 'somewhat important' to them in recruiting people to get involved in political issues that matter to them."

Obama overwhelmingly "understands people like me" [Reuters/Ipsos, 9/4]: "Voters found Obama more likable than Republican presidential opponent Mitt Romney by 50 percent to 30 percent. Forty-one percent said they believed Obama 'understands people like me,' while 28 percent said that about Romney."

The horse race [RCP average, 9/4]: Obama leads an average of national polls with 46.6 percent, Romney at 46.3 percent.
