How Did Hillary Watch Bill's Speech? Clinton Aide Gives Fascinating Account

"She had no idea it was coming, she cheered and practically jumped out of her chair."

You might not agree with Bill and Hillary Clinton's politics, but that doesn't make the story you're about to read any less interesting.

While many are writing about reaction to Bill's DNC speech from Wednesday night, not many are writing about the reaction of Bill's biggest fan: Hillary. Luckily, however, a Clinton aide traveling with Hillary -- who was 9,930 miles away in Timor Leste -- sent a personal account of how Clinton watched the speech and how she responded.

Among the highlights: Hillary watched the speech on the ambassador's home computer (a 17-inch desktop streaming a feed from an aide's SlingBox), the stream only cut out a few times, and Hillary had no idea Obama was going to appear on stage with Bill.

The State Department even has this picture of it:

Here are all the details from Politico:

FROM AN AIDE TRAVELING WITH SECRETARY CLINTON: "President Clinton's speech nominating President Obama started while Secretary Clinton was meeting with the Prime Minister of Timor Leste (the 109th country she's been to as SecState). The speech ended sometime during the press conference, right around the time she was asked a question about it. From the press conference she met with the staff and families of Embassy Dili.  When that ended, she walked over to the Chief of Mission Residence (aka the ambassador's house, which is part of the embassy compound), where she was able to watch her husband's speech on the ambassador's home computer.  Didn't notice the brand, but it was a 17" screen sitting on a wooden desk. For you technophiles that were curious as to how she was able to watch the speech, it was via SlingPlayer, which streamed a recording from a SlingBox connected to an aide's home TiVo.

"So she was watching a feed from 9,930 miles away. The stream held up shockingly well, only a couple of hiccups along the way for a few seconds each time.  Though when it happened nobody was sure it would resume, so there were a few moments of anxiety. ... From the moment the introductory video came on, she was riveted - as were the members of the traveling party who watched with her.  It's safe to say that she loved every single minute of it.  It's possible she did not blink even once. When the speech ended, she was as surprised and excited as everyone in the arena and watching at home when President Obama joined President Clinton on stage.  She had no idea it was coming, she cheered and practically jumped out of her chair."

By the way, in case you didn't know where Timor-Leste is either, it's located between Australia and Indonesia:
