Read Obama's pity-inducing post-debate email to supporters

After his lackluster debate performance last night, President Obama took to his campaign email listserv to try and rally supporters to donate more money:

Friend --

I hope I made you proud out there explaining the vision we share for this country.

Now we need to go win this election -- the most important thing that will happen tonight is what you do (or don't do) to help in the little time we have left:

Thank you,

Barack

The message here is clear: The buck stops with you.

The strategy here is even clearer.  By insisting that the most important thing going forward is what his supporters decide to do, Obama quickly abdicates responsibility for his underwhelming debate skills.  The message is meant to induce guilt -- If we lose this election, it will be because of you.

I guess I should give the president some credit -- I fully anticipated him somehow blaming Bush.
