Obama Supporters Crowd White House Gates After Obama Win: Here's What TheBlaze Saw
November 06, 2012
President Barack Obama won Ohio, Iowa, and Colorado Tuesday evening, making him the clear victor of the 2012 presidential election.
After it became clear that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney had been defeated, Eddie Scarry and I left our Blaze election headquarters (Madeleine Morgenstern’s apartment) and headed over to the White House to catch the city’s reaction.
Considering that President Obama won D.C. with 91.4 percent of the vote, it came as no surprise that everyone was happy. Like, really, really happy. We’re talking climbing trees happy.
“Tonight, we done right!” one reveler shouted.
“USA! USA!”
“Obama did it! Romney, you’re done!”
The crowd outside the White House, the home of the leader of the free world, was jubilant, joyous, and full of good cheer. The crowd was positively beside itself with glee.
Here is what TheBlaze saw:
There were phones everywhere:
LGBT supporters were out in force:
A few people in the crowd looked like they didn't know what there were doing there:
We're going to go ahead and say it: That's not tobacco smoke ...
Don't be fooled, this man was thrilled with the president's victory:
Revelers, revelers -- there were revelers everywhere!
Chants of "USA! USA!" filled the air:
Oh, also, there was a lot of tree-climbing:
Like a lot of tree-climbing:
No, seriously, there was a lot of tree-climbing:
It was also pretty crowded:
Traffic was halted at times by celebrators:
District police were deployed to make sure no one got too out of hand:
Don't be fooled by his scowl ... the guy in the back was happy about the president's successful re-election bid:
All in all, they were thrilled to see President Obama win a second term:
