MSNBC Anchor's Odd Monologue on Families: 'Even Jesus Was Born To An Un-Wed Mom & Raised By A Doting Stepfather'

MSNBC weekend host Melissa Harris Perry used Jesus Christ and his mother as examples of alternative family lifestyles on her Saturday show -- an example that is sure to grab the attention of those of faith.

Perry lamented the American tradition of valuing "one kind of family over all others, married couples."  In making her point that many variations of families exist in America and they should have equal access to marriage benefits, Perry made the interesting statement that "even Jesus was born to an un-wed mom and raised by a doting stepfather."
