War on Kwanzaa! Wisc. Sen. Blasts 'Racist' 'Hardcore Left-Winger' Holiday

Created by "racist" college professors in the 1960's, Kwanzaa is a holiday that "almost no black people today care about" and it only exists because it's being kept alive by "hardcore left-wingers," or so says Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-Wisc.), according to Patch.

"Why must we still hear about Kwanzaa?" the senator asked in a press release. "Why are hard-core left wingers still trying to talk about Kwanzaa -- the supposed African-American holiday celebration between Christmas and New Year’s?"

Needless to say, Democrat party leaders were quick to condemn Sen. Grothman’s "absolutely jaw-dropping” comments.

"Senator Grothman seems to outdo himself every time he opens his mouth," said treasurer of the county Democratic Party Meg Moen. "His recent press release about Kwanzaaa was absolutely jaw-dropping. Not only does Senator Grothman seem to find his inherit racism acceptable, he implores people to follow his lead and question a holiday that African-Americans have been celebrating for years."

"He, as usual, blames progressives and teachers, for respecting all traditions, and having the audacity to include every holiday and tradition that occurs around this time every year," she added.

"That press release is absolutely disgusting and drips with disdain for African-Americans and, therefore, I am calling on him to retract his statements."

At the heart of the senator’s criticism is Kwanzaa’s founder, Maulana Karenga.

Karenga founded the weeklong African-American holiday in the mid-1960s and then went on to start “Organization Us,” a black nationalist group rivaling the infamous Black Panthers.

“He served time in prison in 1971 following a trial during which a female member of the group said he beat her and another woman with an electrical cord,” Patch notes.

Sen. Grothman says Kwanzaa needs to be “slapped down.”

"Of course, almost no black people today care about Kwanzaa -- just white left-wingers who try to shove this down black people's throats in an effort to divide Americans," the release reads.

"Irresponsible public school districts such as Green Bay and Madison ... try to tell a new generation that blacks have a separate holiday than Christians," it adds.

The statement continues, claiming Karenga "didn't like the idea that Christ died for all of our sins, so he felt blacks should have their own holiday -- hence, Kwanzaa."

The Wisconsin senator concludes by urging his fellow Wisconsinites to search for better role models for children and students.

"With tens of millions of honorable black Americans in our country's past, we should not let a violent nut like Karenga speak for them," the statement reads.
