Interest in gun-regulation news tops Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend, Lance Armstrong's drug abuse: poll
January 23, 2013
News last week on college football player Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend and Lance Armstrong's doping scandal didn't capture nearly the same amount of interest that President Obama's gun-regulation proposals did.
Four out of 10 Americans say they followed the news about gun regulation "very closely," versus one out of 10 who say they paid the same attention to the Te'o and Armstrong stories, according to a new Pew survey.
The two sports-related stories even garnered less attention than news of the hostage situation in Algeria. But that may be because most people heard "Algeria" and thought it was a startling development in the buyout of Al Gore's Current TV.
