Lying Worm': Beck's Reaction To Krugman's 'Death Panel' Remarks

John Maynard Keynes fanboy Paul Krugman caused a little stir earlier this year after he half-jokingly suggested that the best way to address the rising national debt would be through tax increases on the middle class and – wait for it – “death panels.”

“Eventually we do have a problem. That the population is getting older, health care costs are rising,” Krugman said during his lecture at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, D.C. “There is this question of how we’re going to pay for the programs.”

“The year 2025, the year 2030, something is going to have to give,” he added. “We’re going to need more revenue … Surely it will require some sort of middle class taxes as well.”

“We won’t be able to pay for the kind of government the society will want without some increase in taxes … on the middle class, maybe a value added tax.”

“And we’re also going to have to make decisions about health care, doc pay for health care that has no demonstrated medical benefits. So the snarky version, which I shouldn’t even say because it will get me in trouble, is death panels and sales taxes is how we do this.”

Perhaps most infuriating about Krugman’s admission is the fact that, as a faithful advocate of “Obamacare,” he regularly mocked and maligned those who warned that a government-run insurance program would lead to higher taxes and spending panels.

Now here he is, a Nobel Prize winner, admitting, yeah, it’ll lead to the things conservatives warned us about.

If you think this is pretty outrageous, you’re not alone. Glenn Beck certainly had something to say about it.

“Paul Krugman is one lying worm,” Beck said Friday. “He’s one of the biggest economists out there -- everyone has to listen to Paul Krugman. He is a guy who is an amazing liar and you cannot be as smart as Paul Krugman and not know it. You cannot be this wrong.”

“Ladies and gentlemen,” he continued, “They have lied to you. They have known they have lied to you. They are still lying to you.”

“They know now, at this point, that they can say anything and it will not get them in trouble,” he added.
