"this fight should unite left & right."
Van Jones, former advisor to President Barack Obama and progressive activist, was arrested outside a federal courthouse Monday during a protest against "Big Coal."
Jones confirmed his arrest on Twitter and said he "volunteered" to be arrested at the demonstration "supporting miners being ripped off by Big Coal." Shortly later he announced he was out of jail and "ready for next round."
It is unclear whether Jones was charged with a crime following his arrest.
"That said: this fight should unite left & right. Global corp stealing pensions earned by honest US workers? Can we join forces 2 stop this," he later tweeted.
