Uh-Oh: 10-Hour Flight Takes Off Without Something Very Important

"Fly by the tips of your fingers."

A 10-hour flight this week from London to San Francisco was missing a rather crucial item: toilet paper.

United Flight 931 departed Sunday running low on restroom supplies. After some of the on-board bathrooms ran out mid-flight, staff tried a quick fix: cocktail napkins.

One passenger snapped a photo of the makeshift holder with the handwritten "toilet paper" label. The napkins themselves read, "Fly by the tips of your fingers."

The airline confirmed to CNN that the affected bathrooms were in economy class.

"The aircraft ran low on toilet tissue and our crew improvised and provided customers with paper napkins. We apologize to our customers on this flight for the inconvenience," United said.

The airline told KGO-TV that stopping to re-stock the toilet paper supply would have delayed the flight.

United said they would "like the opportunity to welcome" customers back.

"Is this a big deal? No," travel author Edward Hasbrouck told KGO. "Which is more important, making your connecting flight or having to wipe with paper towels?"

The toilet paper-less flight comes after United ranked dead last for the second year in a row on a customer satisfaction survey.
