Pat Robertson Says He'd Click 'Vomit' Instead of 'Like' on Gay-Themed Facebook Photos: 'Makes Me Want to Throw Up
July 09, 2013
"...but they don’t give you that option on Facebook."
Evangelical media mogul Pat Robertson isn't a fan of same-sex relationships. So when a viewer of his "700 Club" television show on the Christian Broadcasting Network asked about "liking" Facebook statuses that promote homosexuality, the spirit of his response wasn't entirely surprising. But the tone and comments, some critics may argue, were.
A viewer wrote in, posing the following curiosity: "When we 'like' things on Facebook, if it's something that goes against what is written in the Bible -- such as pictures of same-sex couples -- is that considered condoning the behavior? How do you explain this to new Christian or youth?"
Robertson responded by saying that he doesn't personally "like" things on Facebook, but that doing so is, indeed, a form of endorsing or condoning. The faith leader added that, if it were up to him, he'd push "vomit" instead of "like."
"What you're saying is, 'Yes, I like this kind of thing. You've got a couple of same-sex guys kissing, do you like that?" Roberston responded. "Well, that makes me want to throw up... to me, I would punch ‘vomit,’ not ‘like.'... but they don’t give you that option on Facebook."
Watch the clip, below:
While some may agree with the sentiment, Robertson's response, of course, is sure to rile liberals and those who support same-sex marriage. But it is possible that even those who disagree with gay marriage and the like will see his comments and tactics as being worded a bit harshly.
