Harry Reid on Zimmerman Verdict: 'I Think the Justice Dept. Is Going to Take a Look...This Isn’t Over With and I Think That’s Good\

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the Justice Department should review George Zimmerman's case following his acquittal in the shooting death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Reid, a former trial lawyer, said on NBC's "Meet the Press" he doesn't always agree with jury verdicts, "but that's the system and I support this system."

"I'll accept the verdict and take a look at the law that they have in Florida that was so unusual," he said, referring to Florida's "stand your ground" law. "I think that's up to the state, I think they should revisit that."

He added, “I think the Justice Department is going to take a look at this. This isn’t over with and I think that’s good. That’s our system, it’s gotten better, not worse."

Rev. Al Sharpton and the NAACP have both called for the Justice Department to explore filing civil charges against Zimmerman.
