Sexting scandal bumps Weiner out of lead in NYC mayor's race

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds that all of Anthony Weiner's recent "sexting" news has put his campaign in a bit of a downward tailspin.

Via The Hill:

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn now leads the Democratic primary with 25 percent support, compared to 16 percent who back Weiner, according to the survey. Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, at 14 percent, rounds out the top three, and the two points separating him and Weiner is within the margin of error.

The new poll marks a 14-percentage point swing in Quinn's favor from a survey taken late last month, which showed Weiner then leading the race.

Thursday's poll is the first since Weiner admitted on Tuesday that he continued to send sexually-explicit texts and photographs to young women, well after the same revelations forced him to resign his House seat in 2011.
