Officer versus officer — that is the scene that unfolded in New Jersey after a plain-clothed cop in an unmarked vehicle pulled over an individual on a state highway.
Newly released video from last spring has revealed a heated encounter a state trooper had with an undercover cop, after the trooper arrived at the scene of a traffic stop, according to the New York Daily News.
The trooper, thinking the plain-clothed cop may be an impersonator seeking to rob the car, removed his firearm from its holster and asked the undercover officer to present his I.D.
Watch the video below (Note: It contains vulgar, explicit language that may be offensive to some readers):
“Yo!” the trooper says to the undercover cop. “Yo, I’m going to need to see I.D. from you.”
According to the state trooper, there had been a recent string of armed criminals impersonating police officers and pulling individuals over on the side of the road to later rob them.
After presenting his I.D., the plain-clothed officer expresses his annoyance with the trooper.
“You better have a good f***ing reason why you’re whipping your f***ing weapon out.”
A screaming match proceeds to ensue between the officers, eventually resulting in additional officers being forced to arrive on the scene.
The plain-clothed cop was eventually disciplined, while the state trooper was defended by his superiors as "fully justified" in his actions.
