Following an explosive town hall meeting with constituents, Sen. John McCain appeared on Mike Broomhead’s radio show on KFYI in Phoenix on Thursday night and made some eye-raising comments of his own. Among them: If Obama puts boots on the ground in Syria, he'd be impeached.

During the course of the lengthy interview, McCain also addressed the town hall tensions calling the meeting, “very spirited, but important.” He explained why he believes a majority of people are against any action in Syria.

"I understand their skepticism. Their experience level is Iraq," he said. "No weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, 4,000 dead, now Iraq is falling back into chaos, more deaths in Iraq since 2008."

Then he started talking impeachment.

"The Russians are all in, the Iranians are all in, and it’s an unfair fight. And no one wants American boots on the ground," the senator explained. "Nor will there be American boots on the ground because there will be a impeachment of the President if they did that. But I understand the incredible cynicism."

Listen to Senator McCain defending the skepticism from voters and making his statement about boots on the ground triggering impeachment:

During the course of the nearly half-hour interview McCain constantly repeated some of the talking points supporting the need to launch an attack against Syria.

The Senator also addressed doubts about the evidence of the chemical weapons use by Assad saying: "For any of our listeners who say they still haven’t proved it…well, there’s proof and you’ll be seeing more of it."

When it came to the President's handling of the entire situation, McCain blasted Mr. Obama, stating:

"This President has bungled this thing beyond belief.  Announced he’s going to strike and then say, ‘no, I’m going to the American Congress.’ I can’t believe how badly he’s mishandled handled this issue."

Broomhead also asked John McCain to address the concerns that any military American aid to the rebels - Free Syrian Army - could also be considered as supporting Al Qaeda. The Senator pointed out what he considers some key facts about Al Qaeda's involvement in Syria, explained the kind of support we have been giving to the rebels compared to what Russia and Iran are giving the Assad's army, and he also called for Obama to address the American people in a prime time telecast.

"Not one single weapon from the United States of America has gotten to the Free Syrian Army," he guaranteed (emphasis added). "It has from the Saudis, the Qatars, other gulf states people. Ya know what we gave them? We gave them a bunch of MREs (meals ready to eat) with an expiration date a month later."

He continued to blame Russia and Iran, but McCain also contradicts his earlier claim that, "Not one single weapon from the United States of America has gotten to the Free Syrian Army" (emphasis added):

Every day a planeload of weapons is coming in from Russia and Iran. And by the way, the weapons we gave them are like AK-47s. AK-47s don’t do well against tanks…you know that. It’s an unfair fight.

But Americans have got to be talked to from the Oval Office by the President of the United States on prime time television because Americans are…  and Arizonans are understandably incredibly skeptical and I understand that.

Listen below as McCain talks about the charge that our aid would be helping Al Qaeda, who exactly is arming the rebels and the need for President Obama to address America from the Oval Office in prime time:
