When it was announced in September that Ben Affleck would play the role of Batman in the sequel to "Man of Steel," scores of comic fans and moviegoers were set on fire, blasting the casting as a bad choice. It even gave birth to a sarcastic Twitter trend in which users sent out photos of people who would play a "better Batman," including normal people wearing cheap Batman costumes.
"Why are some people so upset about this?" she wrote on her Gretawire blog Tuesday. "What difference if Ben Affleck has the role or not? He is a good actor, so why not? "
Van Susteren followed up, somewhat relatedly: "What should annoy you is the absurdity of Hollywood – especially awards shows – when actors are said to have ‘courage’ to play some role. Courage? Really?"
