Man Admits to Forcing Abortion on His Pregnant Mistress in Incredibly Chilling Case

Some stories are simply too shocking to believe -- and this tale coming out of London is one of them. Ahmed Raofi, a 29-year-old cab driver, has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting to forcing an abortion upon his pregnant mistress, an action that led to the death of the couple's child at just 19 weeks gestation.

While the attack on his girlfriend unfolded back in April, it wasn't until last Friday that Raofi, an Afghan native who was living in London, England, met his legal fate. Rather than denying the grisly allegations against him -- that he tied up and bound his girlfriend and then forced an abortion-inducing drug on her -- the man admitted to the crime.

Motivation may have stemmed from the fact that Raofi is married. Considering that his wife was still living in Afghanistan when he met 39-year-old Irene Santos, a Filipino resident also living in England, back in 2011, he was able to initiate the affair without her knowing.

But when Santos became pregnant, things became complicated -- and violent.

Fully aware from the start that her love interest was married, she told Raofi about the pregnancy and he instantly wanted her to terminate, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

Santos initially rebuffed an attempt to take her to a clinic, but, according to prosecutors, Raofi later became more threatening, telling his mistress that he would wait until she was further along in her pregnancy and simply "punch it out of her."

Taking matters into his own hands when she refused to listen, he devised a much more sinister plan. Raofi secured abortion pills and researched how to terminate a pregnancy online. Then he lured his girlfriend back to his apartment on April 9, bound her and administered misoprostol, a drug used to induce labor.

According to LifeSiteNews, her baby died 24 hours later and when she told medical professionals what happened, her boyfriend was arrested. Sadly, the child apparently survived for a brief time after the birth, with paramedics claiming that the baby showed signs of life.

Raofi subsequently pleaded guilty and admitted to attempting to bring about the miscarriage. Acknowledging damage to both the woman and the child, Judge Aidan Marron said in the courtroom, "You denied a woman of a much-wanted child and the damage to that woman is manifestly profound."

The Daily Mail shared some of the highlights from Prosecutor David Markham's courtroom deriding of Raofi:

‘In February he had tried to take Ms Santos to an abortion clinic and booked an appointment for her but she refused to go through with it.

‘He told her that he would wait until she was seven months pregnant then, in his words, “punch it out of her”.'

Mr Markham said: ‘They had made love on the night of April 9 and after that the defendant produced some gaffer tape and asked if she wanted a “Chinese massage”.

This is at least the second case this year to involve forced abortions on the part of boyfriends who did not want women to carry their children to term. TheBlaze also reported about a U.S.-based incident involving John Andrew Welden, a Florida resident who recently pleaded guilty to tricking his pregnant girlfriend into taking an abortion pill. She also lost the baby.
