Prisoners' Families Say They Have Video of Brutal Beating by Guards (GRAPHIC)
September 25, 2013
"People in prison are people first."
The families of two Georgia prison inmates have posted online video they say shows a brutal beating at the hands of detention officers.
The families of Miguel Jackson and Kelvin Stevenson say they want justice for the alleged beating they say took place in December 2010 at Smith State Prison outside of Savannah, Atlanta's WGCL-TV reported.
In the video, a female voice can be heard shouting "get down!" and that someone, apparently a guard, has a hammer. Still images at the end of the footage appear to show two severely beaten men. The families say they received the video from an attorney on the case.

"Miguel Jackson and Kelvin Stevenson were beaten inhumanely," Pastor Kenneth Glasgow told WGCL. "So we are bringing attention to it. Trying to get people to know that people in prison are people first."
The families want a probable cause hearing to bring potential charges against the officers, who they say beat Stevenson and Jackson while they were handcuffed.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations told WGCL it investigated the incident and found that the inmates were the aggressors.
Stevenson is serving in prison for rape and Jackson is serving for aggravated assault and armed robbery.
"We want for human beings not to be treated unfairly," Glasgow said. "Whether they are in prison or not."
