I Asked You a Specific Question': David Gregory Presses Ted Cruz on NBC's 'Meet the Press

“You are making an argument. I asked you a specific question based on the facts on the ground."

NBC's David Gregory repeatedly pressed Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz Sunday, over his strategy aimed at defunding President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law.

The showdown came on Sunday's "Meet the Press" with Gregory taking issue with Cruz's characterization that the Democrats in Congress and the president won't compromise over their stance on Obamacare.

“You make this argument as if there’s no broader context here,” Gregory said. "Obamacare has been legislated, it has been adjudicated and it has been tested to the political system."

"There are not protests in the streets arguing to do away with this law in the way that you’d like. Again 56% in one poll said let’s uphold the law," Gregory continued. "I’m focusing on results. Where have you moved anything?”

Cruz responded, noting even unions are asking for exemptions to the law, but that answer did not satisfy Gregory who continued to grill the Texas firebrand.

“You are making an argument. I asked you a specific question based on the facts on the ground,” Gregory countered. “You’ve made all these arguments. My goodness, you went and spoke for twenty-one hours to make these arguments."

"You haven’t moved anyone," Gregory added.

Cruz, again, responded saying most Americans no longer support Obama's signature healthcare law.

"Well, look — the American people overwhelmingly reject Obamacare," he said.
