Doctors Said He Would Never 'Walk, Talk or Do Anything': Watch Teen With Down Syndrome Prove Them All Wrong

Todd VanVooren recalled being told 18 years ago that his son, born with Down syndrome, would "never be able to walk, talk or do anything."

As his wife stood by with tears rolling down her cheeks late last week, VanVooren told WLUK-TV what his son is doing now is "amazing."

The Little Chute, Wisc., high school senior, usually on the sidelines as a waterboy, had just made his first touchdown during a Friday night game.

Ahead of the game, Noah VanVooren told the local news station it "feels pretty good" to be suited up for the field.

“I’m so happy. My parents are here today and we have a big night tonight,” VanVooren said.

After his years of service passing out water and giving players encouragement, the team decided to show their appreciation.

Wearing the number 14 in the high school's last home game of the season, VanVooren was given the ball in the last minute. The opposing team cleared out of the way and VanVooren ran into the endzone.

"I scored a touchdown. It was great," VanVooren said, even though it didn't count to the final score.

This isn't the only touching story to hit the football field of late. A West Virginia middle school student with autism, who had almost exclusively played on defense, recently made his first touchdown too.
