This Is What the People in Your State Want (According to Google Autocomplete)

"...reads like a list of New Year's resolutions made by Civil War veterans."

Have you ever started typing a query into Google and had it “autocomplete” your search for you? If you’re like the millions of people who use Google every day, you know exactly what we’re talking about.

Now, while Google often generates accurate "autocompletes," it also generates some really bizarre and hilarious results.

So the folks at Mashable decided to put Google’s autocomplete function to the test to see what people in each of the 50 states want.

“The resulting map reads like a list of New Year's resolutions made by Civil War veterans,” Mashable noted. “Did you know, for example, that more than anything, Wyoming evidently wants an aircraft carrier? Are you close enough to Wisconsin that residents revealed their secret wish to be called ‘The Mitten State?’ Who could forget existential Florida, whose only desire is simply ‘to know.’”

The following map, which contains a lotof references to secession, has something for almost everyone. Well, almost everyone. There are a couple of blank states because, as Mashable puts it, Google says those states don't "want anything."
