Woman Interrupts News Report to Confess to Stabbing Her Mother, Blames a 'Satanic Cult Casting Spells

The authorities didn't have to look too far for the suspect wanted in a stabbing case. Earlier this week, she walked right up to a news crew with cameras rolling and confessed to the crime.

Katie Nichols told WVLT-TV she stabbed her 61-year-old mother, Lauri Nichols, early Tuesday morning in Knoxville, Tenn., but her forward confession isn't the only unorthodox part of the story.

"The satanic cult in this city has been casting satanic spells on me for three, four days. I'm exhausted. I came home and found out my mom was the ringleader and was trying to kill my daughter," Nichols told the news crew.

"I had to kill her. She was going to kill both of us. She was so powerful, I had no idea, I had no idea that my mother was that powerful," Nichols continued.

After she stabbed her mother, Nichols fled with her young daughter for several hours. Authorities said the victim was taken to the hospital for surgery and was in the intensive car unit as of Tuesday afternoon, according to WVLT.

"I stabbed her three times and she should have died," Nichols said. "She was still breathing. I don't know what happened to her afterwards or where they took her, but she was the antichrist -- she did not die."

Nichols said that she thinks she stopped "every nuclear explosion that was supposed to happen" as a result of the work of the cult because "all of the satanic cult has been rounded up and killed now."

Nichols was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping after her taped confession, according to WATE-TV.

A neighbor of Nichols' mother, who asked to not be identified, told WVLT, Nichols is "not emotionally stable and does the best she can, but needs quite a bit of help."

WVLT reported that neighbors are happy Nichols is in custody so she can receive the care she needs.
