Logan Never Had a Real Birthday Party — Then Some Cops Decided to Do 'Something Special' for the Autistic Boy

Logan Pearson had never experienced a real birthday party. His family says a traditional celebration for the severely autistic 11-year-old, turning 12 on Monday, was just never possible.

"As far as his birthdays in the past, they've always been a sad quiet day," Logan's mom, Catherine, told WBZ-TV.

“In the past we’d like take him out to ice cream or something,” added his sister Cloey.

Things changed this year when Logan's mother turned to Facebook with the intent of doing something different. She asked for birthday cards and good wishes to be sent to Logan.

The post went viral, resulting in cards and gifts pouring in from around the country. But, it particularly caught the eye of one good-hearted cop.

"(The post) was brought to my attention by my better half, my girlfriend," Cambridge police officer Steven Bikofsky told WBZ-TV. "When I realized he was in Andover, I knew he was a special boy and I figured we'd do something special for him."

Bikofsky took action, organizing a massive bash for Logan on Saturday, complete with birthday gifts, cake and a whole lot of cops.

"If it didn't tug at your heart strings, you didn't have a heart," Andover police Lt. Edward Guy said.

The soon to be 12-year-old even received his own motorcade, escorting him to the party.

"It just exploded into this police escort to just show Logan how important he is," Catherine told WBZ-TV. "I just can't believe it."

"Logan is loved around the world, so it's not a sad birthday anymore," she added.
