For the first time in seven years, no American soldiers were killed while serving in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom.

This is only the third time in the 12-year war that no U.S. lives were taken in a single month, the other two being July 2002 and January 2007, according to iCasualties, a website that documents reported deaths occurring in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Though no U.S. soldiers were lost, NBC News reported that there were two coalition force members who died in non-combat situations.
In February, President Barack Obama announced his plan for an "orderly withdrawal" all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
