Far-Left State Named Best State in U.S. to Do Business… Just Kidding, It’s Texas

"We’ve learned from Texas how to tell our story better and it helps that we’ve cut taxes 25 times..."

The state of Texas has now retained its title as the best state in the U.S. to do business for an entire decade. Chief Executive magazine’s 2014 annual survey awarded the Lone Star State with the honor once again this week.

“Texas is the best state for business and I don’t see anything [slowing] it down,” one CEO who participated in the survey said. “The education and quality of eligible employees is excellent right now. Business is booming and growing quicker and more rapidly in 2014 than any other year.  It’s an exciting time in Texas.”

Chief Executive magazine notes that states like Texas, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina and Indiana “have figured out that economic freedom works.”

"We’ve learned from Texas how to tell our story better and it helps that we’ve cut taxes 25 times—about $400 million,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott told Chief Executive.

Here’s the top nine of the magazine’s list:

1. Texas

2. Florida

3. Tennessee

4. North Carolina

5. South Carolina

6. Indiana

7. Arizona

8. Nevada

9. Louisiana

Wisconsin made a “meteoric thrust” from 41st five years ago to 14th in 2014. Chief Executive Magazine credits Gov. Scott Walker’s conservative policies for the turnaround.

Progressive states California, New York and Illinois continue to rank among the worth three states in 2014.
