‘Shots Fired, Shots Fired’: Chaotic Audio Reveals Police Response to Santa Barbara Shooting

"...we need a second ambulance..."

Chilling audio from the 911 scanner reveals the dramatic response to the Friday night shooting that took the lives of seven individuals near the University of California, Santa Barbara.

The audio depicts the chaotic moments as officers responded to initial reports of shots being fired and apparently identified the alleged shooter before he died of a gun shot wound.

“Shots fired, shots fired,” one officer shouts into the radio.

Moments later an officer identifies the the suspect.

“According to a witness it was a dark colored BMW, white occupant a male wearing a white shirt he was was firing as he go by,” said the officer.

Later in the recording another officer seems to indicate the suspect had been shot. It was unclear if the wound was self-inflicted or not.

"They have the shooter in custody," he said. "He's been shot as well."

Authorities said that the suspected shooter, later identified as 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, was among the dead.

The audio also reveals officers first ordering three ambulances and then realizing the magnitude of the shooting.

“Unfortunately we need a second ambulance for another gun shot wound,” said an officer.

Throughout the recording officers can be heard further identifying victims, in one case describing a victim as "profusely bleeding."

Police say the shooting might have been a premeditated mass murder and the suspected shooter may have left behind a video detailing his plans to "slay" as many individuals as possible

Local newspaper the Santa Barbara Independent is reporting that the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department is reviewing a YouTube video in which Rodger seems to plot the massacre to exact revenge for his loneliness and failures with women.

“All those girls that I’ve desired so much, they would’ve all rejected me and looked down upon me as an inferior man if I ever made a sexual advance towards them while they throw themselves at these obnoxious brutes,” Rodger says, speaking into a camera apparently affixed inside vehicle.

“I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you,” he adds. “You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one the true alpha male.”

Speculation on the Internet suggests Rodger may be the son of Hunger Games assistant director Peter Rodger and stepson of Soumaya Akaaboune (from the cast of TV show ‘Les Vraies Housewives’).

Such speculation appears to be supported from photos on a Facebook page appearing to belong to him. The photos show him at a Hunger Games premiere with a man who appears to be Peter Rodger.

TheBlaze has reached out to the Rodger family for comment.
