Bill Maher's Surprising Accusation About Obama's Faith

"Drugs are good and religion is bad! I'm gonna stick with that."

On Monday night, Bill Maher sat down with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show and talked politics, religion and the New York Mets. The big headline? During the 6:36 interview, Maher declared that President Obama is a "drop-dead atheist" who only joined Rev. Wright's church for political expedience.

"Obama's always spouting spiritual bulls**t, and I don't believe it for a second," Maher said. "He's a drop-dead atheist, absolutely."

However, there was more to the interview than Maher's calling out the President over his faith.

He also took a shot at Hillary Clinton after she said the Bible is her favorite book. "You couldn't find something more violent, like Game of Thrones?" joked Maher.

To appreciate the full context of these remarks, we reviewed the entire segment.

The interview started with the two hosts discussing the perceived impact their television shows have had on the nation and the political conversation in America.

At the 2:15 point of the segment, while discussing the possibility of Maher ever running for public office (something he says cannot happen), Maher said his campaign slogan would be, "Drugs are good and religion is bad."

After a brief applause break, Maher continued, "Which you can't probably run for office on in this country…but I feel like the needle has moved on both of those. I think people have come over to my thinking." (Larger applause)

The discussion then focused more on the subject of religion and faith, a topic that both Maher and Stewart often use as a target on their shows.

This is not the first time President Obama has been called an atheist. Back in 2012, TheBlaze reported on Richard Dawkins' speculation that Obama "is probably an atheist."
