An Irish infant is being called a "miracle baby" after surviving a miscarriage and medication designed to induce an abortion, the Irish Mirror reported.

Michelle Hui, 31, suffered a miscarriage six weeks into her pregnancy, and said that two doctors conducted five separate scans on her before concluding that she had lost her baby.

Hui was given medication to ensure nothing was remaining in her uterus that could cause an infection, and went back to the hospital a little over a week later to find the seemingly impossible had occurred: Her baby was still alive.

While doctors said there was no chance she was still pregnant, [Hui] was told to take a pregnancy test which would reveal whether any harmful clots had remained.

The test was positive, so she went back to hospital for a D&C (dilation and ­curettage) – a surgical procedure to remove the contents of the uterus. But it was at that point the doctors spotted a heartbeat on a scan. “I couldn’t believe it,” said Michelle. “Neither could the doctors. But as happy as I was, I was angry they had missed her on the scans.

“They said that with all the blood and clots it must have created shadows so they couldn’t see her.

“They said I was blessed. ... I’ve been written about in medical journals, and the doctor said that in all his 25 years he has never come across or heard of anything like this.”

Hui discovered she had originally been pregnant with twins, and that Megan -- born roughly 18 weeks ago -- had survived both the miscarriage and the abortion-inducing medication.

"Someone had been looking over us,” Michelle remarked. “It was an incredibly difficult time, but now we have a precious and healthy little girl.”
