What This Family Unexpectedly Found Inside a Box Left in a Grassy Area on Their Front Lawn Could Haunt Them for Years
July 29, 2014
“It was probably wrapped up 15 or 20 times. That’s when we knew with the smell and the wrap that something was not quite right."
It was apparent something was wrong the moment they found the box.
According to WBZ-TV, Chandler Rodriguez and his father Hector discovered a suspicious box on the front lawn of their Duxbury, Massachusetts home Sunday morning.
"It was like a normal packing box," Chandler said. “It was probably wrapped up 15 or 20 times. That’s when we knew with the smell and the wrap that something was not quite right."

"There was kind of an odor coming from it," he continued. "We think maybe garbage or something.”
Chandler described the box as heavy and said that's when they knew "something is not right."

"We turned it over and the smell was very, very strong," his father Hector echoed.
Police were called to the scene and ultimately determined the box contained human remains, WBZ reported. The remains were taken to the Medical Examiner's Office where police will investigate further.
WBZ reported that the box may have possibly fallen from a car. It could have also been thrown, the CBS affiliate added.
The age and gender of the remains are not yet known.
“I just feel very sad for whoever the family is,” Hector said.
