Mom and Dad Wondered Why Their Daughter, 13, Was Getting So Many 'Friend' Requests — When They Learned the Truth, They Called Police

A Virginia couple, the parents of a 13-year-old girl were so shocked by what they found on their daughter's tablet computer that they immediately called police.

The mother, whose identity is being withheld to protect her underage children, told authorities that she was concerned about the spike in "friend requests" that her young teenage daughter was receiving, so she did some parental investigating. A scan of the child's tablet revealed she was exchanging nude photos of herself with teenage boys.

As the parents looked deeper into their daughter's hard drive, they found something more disturbing. There were reportedly requests from boys believed to be 17 or 18 who wanted to have sex with the 13-year-old.

Despite the risk of having their daughter charged as a sex offender, the Dinwiddie couple brought the story to the local sheriff's office.

An attorney for the Commonwealth of Dinwiddie told CBS 6 News that while the young girl could be involved in some disciplinary action called "diversion" --  12 weeks of classes that would also include her parents, the older participants may face serious charges like "contributing to the delinquency of a minor."
