What Are We Doing?': Beck Warns Americans About Obama's Latest Push to Arm Syrian Rebels

"And if they happen to lose to ISIS, what happens to all those weapons?"

Glenn Beck on Thursday expressed grave concern about President Barack Obama's push to arm Syrian rebels in the fight against the Islamic State, saying Islamic extremists have grown more powerful each time America has helped destabilize a Middle Eastern country in recent years.

"So let's see, we destabilized Iraq and who's in control? ISIS," Beck said on his radio program. "Then we destabilized Egypt. Who's in control? Muslim extremists. Then we destabilized Libya. Who's in control? Muslim extremists. Now, we finished those and we immediately went and said, 'We've got to destabilize Syria. We've got to get Syria away from [Bashar Assad]. We want to arm those rebels that are going after Assad, because he has chemical weapons...'"

"We're organizing the Middle East, but who are we organizing it for? What are we doing?" Beck asked.

In a major reversal, Obama ordered the United States into a broad military campaign to “degrade and ultimately destroy” militants in two volatile Middle East nations, authorizing airstrikes inside Syria for the first time, as well as an expansion of strikes in Iraq. The president said in his address Wednesday that arming the Syrian rebels is part of America's strategy to combat the Islamic State.

But Beck said it is highly likely that, once the U.S. arms the Syrian rebels, they will use the arms to fight their primary enemy, Assad, and not the Islamic State.

"And if they happen to lose to ISIS, what happens to all those weapons?" Beck asked. "And, by the way, they don't even have to lose to ISIS. How do we know who the good guys are and the bad guys are? What are we doing?"

"Do you remember how everyone was so upset that we would arm the mujahideen in Afghanistan? We created Osama bin Laden. We created him. We trained him. We armed him," Beck continued. "We created him because our enemy was the Soviet Union. Do you remember that lesson? This is what the president is asking us to do now."

Beck noted that Obama said just months ago that "the notion" that Syrian rebels would be in a position to overturn "not only Assad, but also ruthless, highly trained jihadists, if we just sent a few arms, is a fantasy."

"Which is it, Mr. President?" Beck said. "Just tell us what you believe."

"I think he does want to organize the Middle East," Beck continued. "That's what he said last week. We have to organize the Middle East. Think of that. The ultimate community organizer who thinks the way to do this is to organize the Middle East. Well, that's what he has done. All of his policies."

Beck said you can credit Obama with the best intentions, saying he is restructuring the Middle East because he doesn't want America to be "in bed" with a string of dictators.

"But what happened next? This president gets in, and he immediately starts to cheer on Egypt and the getting rid of Mubarak. Now, what did that do? That destabilized Egypt. And who rose up? The Islamic extremists. Then we rolled right into Libya. Who is in control of Libya today? It's not Muammar Gaddafi. It's Muslim extremists. They're swimming in our embassy swimming pool just last weekend. Muslim extremists."
