The View' Hosts Turn on Each Other During Fiery Race Debate: 'I Have a Black Kid at My House!
December 19, 2014
"That is not the same thing!"
Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg got into a heated battle over racism in America on Thursday’s episode of “The View.” At one point, O’Donnell felt compelled to remind Goldberg that she has a “black kid at my house.”
The race discussion devolved into shouting after Goldberg downplayed the role race played when President Barack Obama was apparently mistaken for a valet. But O’Donnell was seemingly convinced it was a result of America’s racism.
“You are a white lady telling me what is racist to you,” Goldberg yelled.
“I’m a gay American whose been called an [expletive],” O’Donnell shot back. She added, “I have a black kid at my house, Whoopi. I have a black kid I raise!”
“That is not the same thing!” Goldberg replied.
O’Donnell then claimed “you don't have to be black to know what racism is.”
Goldberg went on to issue a strong defense of America, saying she refuses to “accept the blanket statement that America is racist.”
