As the University of South Carolina campus went on lockdown Thursday following reports of a shooting at the School of Public Health, students and teachers took no chances while hoping to avoid the violence.
A photo allegedly captured from inside one of the classrooms shows an "unreal" reality of how people responded"
The photo was posted as others tweeted what was happening.
The university then confirmed in its own tweet:
SHOOTING AT NEW SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH. Remain indoors. Obey officials. http://t.co/fWJdCbdExJ— Carolina Alert (@CarolinaAlert) February 5, 2015
The Associated Press reported there were no immediate reports of injuries and police do not yet have any suspects.
The school has since confirmed the threat is no longer active, although students are being told to remain indoors.
Roads near the scene also remain blocked, the AP reported.
According to WISTV, officials are investigating a possible murder-suicide:
Officials: RCSD, Coroner, CPD, USC all investigating murder-suicide. Active shooter situation over: http://t.co/gHqYvMGhht— WIS News 10 (@wis10)February 5, 2015
