Contractors Put Hammers Aside to Stun With Viral Rendition of 'How Great Thou Art' — and the Reason They Ended Up Shedding Tears

Two Indiana-based contractors who started working together three years ago randomly decided one day to record a lighthearted video of them singing a song at the end of a hard day's work — a decision that quickly gained them a massive social media following.

Known as the "Singing Contractors," Aaron Gray and Josh Arnett are not only sought out for their handiwork, but they're also looked to for the popular videos they regularly post of them beautifully harmonizing.

The duo's most recent rendition of Christian hymn "How Great Thou Art" has gone viral, bringing their voices to millions, WISH-TV reported.

"At the end of the day after our hard work we’ll do a short video and we posted to Facebook one time and some people liked it," Arnett told the outlet, going on to explain why the two decided to select the hymn. "We just felt like that particular day 'How Great Thou Art' just seemed like a good song and that’s what we did."

Their rendition of the song — which they said was a request from one of their fans — has pulled in more than nine million views on Facebook as well as nearly 61,000 on YouTube since it was posted on September 24.

Reaction to the performance on YouTube was overwhelmingly positive, with many viewers praising the contractors, encouraging them to audition for "America's Got Talent" and begging for the duo to make a record.

"We’ve actually shed a few tears because we don’t feel like that we’re worthy of this at all," Gray told WISH-TV of the reaction.
