Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy Reveals Brazen Two-Word Message He Delivered to His GOP Colleagues

"I have told my own Republican colleagues..."

Rep. Trey Gowdy (S.C.), chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, delivered a message to his Republican colleagues in the House who may consider criticizing his committee's probe: "shut up."

Gowdy revealed his message during a Sunday appearance on "Face the Nation" when he was asked about some Republicans suggesting his committee was politically motivated. Just this week, Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) said that he believes a “big part” of it was designed to weaken Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"I have told my own Republican colleagues and friends: shut up talking about things you don't know anything about," Gowdy said Sunday.

"Unless you're on the committee you have no idea what we've done, why we've done it, and what new facts we have found," he continued. "We have found new facts that have absolutely nothing to do with her."

Later in the interview, Gowdy again addressed charges his committee's chief goal is to go after Clinton.

"They don't have any idea what the facts are," he added. "She's an important witness but she is one witness and by the time we're through, John, we will have interviewed 70 witnesses so she's one out of the 70."

Clinton is set to appear before the Benghazi committee later this month.
