This Simple Test From Harvard-Trained Psychologist Could Reveal if You Are a Narcissist — and Which Kind

Narcissism as a personality trait can be classified as “vulnerable” or “grandiose.”

In a new TED-Ed video, W. Keith Campbell explains different types of narcissism.

According to the video, narcissism is “a set of traits classified and studied by psychologists” in which an individual has an inflated sense of self-importance.

Narcissism as a personality trait can be classified as “vulnerable” or “grandiose.” Grandiose narcissists are the most common type. They are often extroverted and seek to “pursue attention and power.” Vulnerable narcissists are more introverted. They have a strong sense of entitlement and are easily threatened.

An additional, more extreme type of narcissism is called narcissistic personality disorder, which impacts as much as 2 percent of the population and is more commonly diagnosed in men.

According to the Daily Mail, a coinciding test developed by Dr. Craig Malkin, a Harvard-trained psychologist, can be used to “determine the scale of your narcissism.”

The questions are split into three categories and the results of each “reflect very different patterns of behavior.” They note that the test is informal and isn't for diagnostic purposes.
