Why This Photo of a Grandfather Eating a Burger Was Retweeted More Than 100,000 Times in 24 Hours

"dinner with papaw tonight..."

It took the Internet by storm.

A photo posted online Thursday was retweeted more than 100,000 times in 24 hours — and after you read its caption you might just understand why.

Kelsey Harmon tweeted the photo, writing, “Dinner with papaw tonight…he made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I’m the only one who showed. [crying emoji] love him."

The image captivated users and was retweeted more than 100,000 times in the 24 hours since it was posted.

In fact, the tweet went so viral, users on the Internet tracked down some of the grandkids who failed to show up to the dinner and started harassing them online.

Brock Harmon later tweeted an image of himself Thursday at the home and said he was forgiven for being absent the previous night.

That still wasn't enough, however. Kelsey ultimately posted a tweet asking people to stop sending her cousins death threats.

A photo was later shared of the man's grandkids eating dinner with him Thursday night.

Kelsey posted a note explaining the family's "intentions were never to become 'famous'" and that she'd "never take advantage" of family to "gain followers and fame for a few days.
