High-Ranking Islamic State Commander Killed by U.S. Forces in Syria Operation

UPDATE: Secretary of Defense Ash Carter confirmed on Friday that Haji Imam, a "well-known terrorist" and high-ranking Islamic State commander, has been killed by U.S. forces.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter is expected to announce on Friday that U.S. coalition forces killed a high-ranking Islamic State commander, according to The Daily Beast.
Carter, alongside Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Joseph Dunford, are set to announce that Haji Imam, believed to be the terror group's second in command, was killed during an operation in Syria.

Imam’s real name is reportedly And ar-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli.
Carter is also expected to confirm the death of ISIS’s “minister of war” Tarkhan Batirashvili in a strike earlier this month. Batirashvili is also called Omar al-Shishani or “Omar the Chechen.”
The Daily Beast’s report cited an unnamed “top defense official” as their source.
