Because why not.
Meryl Streep is known for her colorful choice of roles in films. She’s played a nun, a zany chef, a fashion magazine mogul and even Margaret Thatcher.

The Oscar-winning actress took part in a live performance Monday for the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala in New York City.
But why was she dressed as the GOP's presumptive presidential candidate?
Streep wore the costume while performing a duet of "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" from the musical, "Kiss Me, Kate" with Tony Award-winning actress Christine Baranski.

Because why not.
At least one attendee captured footage of the unique performance, later posting the clip to Twitter so that the world wouldn't have to miss out on the political hilarity.
