Take One Look at this College Basketball Player's Stunning Mega-Dunk and You'll Realize Why It Immediately Went Viral

"I went there with the intent to make the dunk."

A college basketball player's amazing mega-dunk has gone viral in recent weeks — and when you take a quick second to watch it, you'll likely see why it has so many talking.

It all started when Patrick Dickert, a 21-year-old junior who plays basketball for Colby College in Waterville, Maine, uploaded a video clip to his Instagram page that shows him seemingly jumping from the free-throw line and remaining airborne until he sinks a hoop, the Daily Mail reported.

Dickert, who is reportedly 6'2", apparently traveled 15 feet through the air toward the basket.

Watch it unfold below:

The college player said that he's been surprised by the viral reaction to the video.

"I went there with the intent to make the dunk. I’ve been practicing it for a long time and I didn’t want to be the known as the ‘missed dunk guy,'" he told the Portland Press Herald. "It’s something I couldn’t possibly have expected."

Dickert continued, "It’s blown up on so many different platforms. It’s even popular on Reddit, and I’ve posted a bunch of stuff on Reddit before and it really went nowhere."
