We're Going to Need a Bigger Boat': 6-Year-Old Hooks Great White Shark While Fishing at Cape Cod

A 6-year-old boy hooked a great white shark while fishing in Massachusetts' Cape Cod Bay on Saturday, according to the Cape Cod Times.

“I saw something moving like crazy,” Blake White told the Times. “So I told dad to go and get the rod and then I helped him.”

“I’ve never caught a shark in my six years of life,” Blake added.

Blake’s father, Lars White, told the Times that his son asked for some help reeling in his catch, which he thought was a large bass.

But after more than an hour of attempting to reel in their catch, the fish they pulled to the surface was actually a great white shark.

“We're going to need a bigger boat,” Lars White said he told his family when he realized what Blake had caught. “The reaction was to ask the boys to go to the center of the boat and sit down.”

The family took a few pictures of the shark before cutting it free.

Blake told his dad that he wants to go fishing again next weekend so “we can catch something a little bit smaller.”
