Wikileaks' Julian Assange Clashes With Bill Maher, Shares Info on 'William Maher' Found in Their Files

"Perhaps you would like to comment. Is that you?"

HBO host Bill Maher confronted Wikileaks’ Julian Assange on Friday over the Democratic National Committee email hack that many argue was intended to harm Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Maher told Assange bluntly that it appears he is working with a “bad actor,” Russia, to take down Clinton, “the one person who stands in the way of us being ruled by Donald Trump.” He also asked why Wikileaks hasn’t targeted the Trump campaign’s emails.

After the audience’s applause died down, Assange shifted gears revealed he did a “little search” through their files and found an interesting item on a “William Maher.”

“I do notice that a William Maher gave a Clinton-affiliated entity $1 million,” Assange said. “Perhaps you would like to comment. Is that you?”

“I don’t think you have to look in your files to find that,” Maher replied sarcastically. “I gave Obama $1 million — I made it public. The whole point of it was to make it public so people in 2012 would understand that the game had moved to the million-dollar level after our Citizens’ United ruling.”

When Assange pressed Maher further, asking if there was another $1 million donation made to a Clinton group, the host replied, “F*** no.”
