USA Swimmer Sends Crystal Clear Message to Russia After Winning Gold Medal
August 09, 2016
"We can still compete clean."
American swimmer Lilly King, 19, had a crystal clear message for Russia after winning a gold medal at the Rio Olympics Monday evening.
King has been a vocal critic of her Russian rival Yulia Efimova, 24, who was reportedly caught using performance-enhancing drugs. She was initially banned from competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics by the International Swimming Federation prior to being reinstated.

After she defeated her Russian rival — and set an Olympic record for the 100-meter breaststroke — King let the world know that she doesn’t think cheating should be tolerated.
In an interview with NBC following her victory on Monday, King was asked, “Do you feel like you made a statement for the United States and other athletes?”
King replied, “Yeah, I hope I did, that we can still compete clean and do well at the Olympic games and that’s how it should be.”
Twitter loved King’s response to her victory.
Come at the King, you best. not. miss.
