Matt Drudge wonders if US government is trying to hack Drudge Report

Matt Drudge does not often tweet, but when he does, it makes news.

In a Thursday night tweet, the conservative firebrand accused the U.S. government of "attacking" his namesake Drudge Report website.

"Is the US government attacking DRUDGE REPORT?" he tweeted. "Biggest DDoS since site's inception. VERY suspicious routing [and timing]."

"DDoS" refers to Distributed Denial of Service, a type of cyberattack involving multiple computers repeatedly trying to connect to a website's server, thus causing the server to become overwhelmed and, in effect, deny users service for a period of time.

The Drudge Report Twitter account later indicated the website outage "lasted 90 minutes."

According to the International Business Times, the outage began around 7 p.m. EST. It also noted Drudge's top headline at the time, "Moscow Mocks Obama."

It should be noted there is currently no evidence supporting Drudge's accusation.

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheBlaze on Friday.
