Carly Fiorina considering Virginia Senate bid

Former Republican presidential and Senatorial candidate Carly Fiorina is considering a run for Senate in Virginia, according to CNN.

Fiorina, who lives in Virginia, said during a radio interview earlier this week that she is weighing a bid for the U.S. Senate seat in the state in 2018.

Asked during an interview on the John Fredericks Show if she would run, Fiorina replied, "Well, I don't know yet, John.”

“Sorry, I'm not gonna make a big announcement on your show," she joked.

"Look, I'm certainly looking at that opportunity," she continued. "It's a little early to be making that decision, we're two weeks into a new administration."

Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, ran for Senate in California, where she previously lived, in 2010, but lost to incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.)

“Who knows what the future will bring,” she added. "But I look forward to continuing to talk to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia about things that we agree on, things that we may not yet know we agree on — most people are pragmatic, most people have a lot of common sense."

According to Politico, Fiorina is being considered as a potential challenger to incumbent Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s former running mate.

Fiorina, who was also briefly Sen. Ted Cruz’s running mate, said that Virginia is a purple state with two Democratic senators, and the Democratic party is anxious to defend Kaine’s seat.

“We should be realistic as Republicans... that this will be a very, very tough race,” Fiorina said.

Talk radio host Laura Ingraham has said that she is considering running for Senate in Virginia. Politico reports that the state's former Gov. Jim Gilmore and Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) may also run for Senate.
