Watch: MSNBC guest peddles disproved myth that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms

A disproved Planned Parenthood myth once again resurfaced on MSNBC as one of channel's guests spread the falsehood that the nation's leading abortion provider also provides mammograms. But no one on the cable channel bothered to correct it.

On Monday's "Morning Joe," host Mika Brzezinski was speaking with journalist Tina Brown about President Donald Trump and women's issues. Brzezinski asked Brown how Trump's White House is attempting to address these issues with Ivanka Trump tackling them head on.

“He has been holding these events at the White House," Brzezinski said. "There have been at least three that I’ve noticed, but I think there have been more, where he has a room full of women talking about access to capital. I know for a fact that Ivanka is trying to set up a real kind of arm of the White House that will focus on these issues. Does that not make any difference at all?”

“Well, here’s the problem,” Brown said. “You can’t really talk about empowering women and lifting women up at the same time as taking away their ability to go to a clinic and have a mammogram, which is what happens when you defund Planned Parenthood.”

Brown continued, saying that poor women will "die of breast cancer" should the $500 million that Planned Parenthood receives annually go to other women's clinics.

None of the hosts or guests that were present attempted to correct Brown. In fact, Brzezinski vocally agreed with Brown as she spoke.

The fact is that Planned Parenthood does not offer mammograms. This was specifically addressed by the organization's own president, Cecile Richards, who confessed to Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) during a House Oversight Committee hearing in 2015 that Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms.
