CNN's twitter account tells Donald Trump Jr. to stop spreading 'absolute nonsense

The official Twitter account for CNN's communications team responded to Donald Trump Jr. to defend the network from accusations that they staged a photo shoot with Muslims in Britain after the latest terror attack.

"This is absolute nonsense," the account tweeted to Trump Jr. "You are misleading your followers. CNN didn't stage a demonstration. Those are the facts."

The tweet linked to a Mashable story that tried to disprove a story Trump Jr. had posted. It arose from video posted reportedly showing a CNN news crew helping create a photo op with Muslims protesting against terror.

In the video shared on social media, Muslims are shown lining up in front of cameras with protest signs as police ushered them along. CNN aired a live segment from the scene with CNN correspondent Becky Anderson.

The official international CNN Twitter account tried to bat down the story, saying, "This is nonsense. Police let demonstrators through the cordon to show their signs. CNN along with other media simply filmed them doing so."

A CNN spokesman also gave a statement to TheBlaze about the matter, saying, “The group of demonstrators that was at the police cordon was being allowed through by officers so they could show their signs to the gathered media. The CNN crew along with other media present simply filmed them doing so."

The tweet from Donald Trump Jr. remains on his account and reads, "Not at all surprising at this point. They create the narrative they want to push & sell it at all costs," with the hashtag for "fake news" added.

CNN has been on top of President Donald Trump's enemies list — he's assailed them for what he calls "fake news" stories that undermine his agenda and presidency. The news network has been constantly reporting on new leaks from the government with anonymous sources that tend to damage the Trump presidency.
