Republican House members 'should be guillotined,' Democratic Socialist students say

The Young Democratic Socialists at the University of Georgia apparently aren't too fond of the Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Responding to a story about a college professor who said the GOP should be "lined up and shot" for passing the Obamacare replacement bill, the Young Democratic Socialists upped the ante on social media.

"This is absolutely outrageous!” the group tweeted. "House Republicans should NOT be shot! They should be guillotined.”

But after a commenter mentioned the guillotine would provide β€œthe more humane" execution, the poster for Young Democratic Socialists replied by saying β€œif that’s the case, then maybe I should reconsider.”

The tweet was posted last month but didn't hit a wider audience until this week.

It isn't the only guillotine reference on the group's Twitter page β€” the photo featured at the top of the page depicts a beheading presumably from the French Revolution. The group retweeted the following as well:

The website for the Young Democratic Socialists, a recognized student group at the school, indicates that it "works with local, state, and national organizations to raise awareness about important social and economic issues and to address them through direct action. Our members are engaged in a wide variety of activities and causes. We are associated with the youth chapter of Democratic Socialists of America."
