Piers Morgan, a television presenter on "Good Morning Britain," lost his cool Tuesday morning on a British physician who administers gay conversion therapy.
Christian physician Mike Davidson, who holds therapy sessions for those wishing to convert from homosexuality to heterosexuality, was a featured guest on the show.
Morgan verbally attacked Davidson and called him a bigot — and more — for holding biblically based ideas on homosexuality.
Davidson said he believed that homosexuality can be cured through conversion therapy, which includes psychological counseling and prayer. Candidates for the therapy must also possess the desire to change their sexual orientation, he added.
Davidson said that he was formerly gay, but conversion therapy helped him change his behavior and sexual preference.
Calling homosexuality a "sin," an "abomination," an "aberration," and a "maladjustment," Davidson referred to the Bible's Old Testament, which says that homosexuality is sinful behavior.
"I think that science is very clear," Davidson said. "Even the American Psychological Association says there's no evidence one way or another [whether people are born gay or become gay]. I believe people are not gay and they come into homosexual feelings, and in some cases is reversible if people want to make that their trajectory."
After Davidson challenged Morgan's stance that homosexuality is inherent at birth, any perceived niceties on the show came to a screeching halt.
Morgan's fiery rebuttal
Morgan, appearing increasingly uncomfortable with the narrative of the conversation, fired back at Davidson's question about inherent homosexuality.
"Do you know what we call these people, Dr. Michael? We call them horrible little bigots," Morgan said. "In my view, [you] are a malevolent and dangerous part of our society!"
Morgan asked the former gay doctor, "Where is your evidence you were born straight?"
"Prove you're straight!" Morgan yelled.
When Davidson attempted to defend himself, Morgan refused to allow him to speak and demanded that Davidson reveal "how many times" he had gay sex.
Davidson refused name a number, but answered, "Enough to find that this is something I wanted to change in my life."
Morgan then asked if Davidson still experienced homosexual urges, and Davidson confirmed that he does.
Morgan spat, "You want to have all the gay sex you want before you cured yourself and now deprive other people!"
Before abruptly ending the interview, Morgan concluded, "Why don't you put a cork in it? I've had enough, Dr. Michael, just shut up!"
